All of our custom hitches are designed for a vehicle-specific fit, manufactured with pride, finished for industry-leading rust resistance and tested to rigorous SAE J684 standards for safety. This class 1 trailer hitch and ball mount combination is designed for a custom fit on select years of the Kia Soul (see application info to verify fitment). The hitch integrates with the vehicle's frame and provides a useful and dependable 1-1/4" x 1-1/4" receiver. The receiver is perfect for attaching the included ball mount and towing a small trailer, or for adding cargo space with a hitch-mounted cargo carrier, bike rack or other accessory. This particular class 1 hitch is rated for 2,000 pounds gross trailer weight and 200 pounds tongue weight (never exceed the lowest-rated towing component). The ball mount included with this trailer hitch quickly and easily installs into the hitch receiver and has a 3/4" trailer ball hole (trailer ball not included). It can be mounted in the rise or drop position to promote level towing. Like all CURT custom hitches, this class 1 hitch is protected with our co-cured finishing process. It is descaled for a smooth surface, immersed in liquid A-coat for rust resistance inside and out, covered with a durable black powder coat and finally co-cured for an industry-leading rust, chip and UV-resistant shield. No matter where you're headed or which season of the year you’re towing in, this CURT hitch is equipped for long-lasting resilience to the elements. It features an open-back receiver for easy cleaning, and it comes with all the hardware necessary for the installation.

This hitch arrived very quickly, although I bet the mailman hates me as the box was huge!The installation instructions were fairly straightforward; especially once you get enter the back of the car and take a look.The most difficult part was removal of the factory tow loop, they must have used the biggest guy in the place to torque those bolts down. After that it was mostly simple although a second person would be useful to put the hitch into place, I used my floor jack to hold one end up while I got a bolt started on the other end.Make sure to leave all your bolts loose until you have them all started. There is a slight bit of adjustment that can be made until all the bolts are in, after that the fit is quite tight so torquing bolts before you have all of them started can result in a bolt not being able to thread in.You do need to drop the muffler. I found that I needed to release the mounts both at the front and the rear of the muffler to get enough clearance. That wasn't bad with the help of a pry bar and some lubricant. Reinstalling the mounts was even easier than the removal.If you're installing a trailer light wiring kit at the same time it might be a good idea to run those wires before you install the hitch. I found that after the hitch was installed that access to where the wires come down from inside the bumper cover was restricted, if I had smaller arms it may have been easier.I installed this on a 2012 Kia Soul. I didn't have any trouble with the length of the trailer fitting within the width of the mounting points on the car as has been mentioned in these ratings. However if trying to install yourself it may seem that there is an issue as you really need to the hitch to go straight up onto the mounting points instead of getting one side up there and then moving to the other side.Lastly, the quality of this hitch is very nice. I have installed hitches from other manufacturers and the Curt just really puts them to shame. The square tubing has nicely rounded corners and the powdercoat is very shiny. I know I won't see any of that without getting under the car as all that actually shows is the receiver but it's a testament to Curt that they sweat the stuff that you don't see.
