This is just raw steel. Threads were nicely cut. You know, it's a pipe...I used 3 of these on my homemade train horns as the manifold connections, and the threads rusted within 1 day of being mounted outside my car in the humid and wet Florida atmosphere. This is probably because where the threads are cut is not protected by the same coating as the rest of the nipple. When I first opened them, they appeared to be very good quality, and the threads were nicer than any other steel or iron nipple I have ever seen. The quality was almost as good, if not the same, as brass threads.I only gave minus 2 stars for the rust. Had I been using them in a less harsh environment, they would deserve 5 stars.I do not plan on replacing them as the rust probably didn't weaken them enough to worry me.Nice solid pipe. Going to use on my RV to T my propane line for a BBQ. Could not find this size of black pipe at Home Depot or Lowes.works great as a holder for my forge burner tubes. Cut it in half and you have two burner holders.Quality product at the right price for we who would rather have stuff delivered to my house. I am using these on my psitol range to off-sett a holder for my steal hanging plates. Very pleased with the quality and fast delivery.
